Here at Guardians

The small viking fleet of Bedworth

We are a small hobby cat breeder and show exhibitor. We currently have 3 beautiful show girls and one rescue cat. We hope to progress our breeding and breedlines and have this year acquired our own prefix, Guardians. We hope to see this name in the shows of the future :) All our cats are shown under GCCF and any kittens we have are also registered with GCCF.

We now also have our neutered boy Lincoln and a new home bred girl Tatiana so our clan grows to 6 at the end of 2019. We hope to progress our showing through 2020. As my girls are family first we will not being having kittens until at least Autumn time as they are on rest time from being mummies and can have fun just being crazy wegies.

Norwegians

Originating from Northern Europe, its natural habitat was a very cold climate and these cats adapted well. They were most likely taken up by the Vikings around 1000ad and this is where the breed really took off and developed in to the cat we know today. During the second world war they were nearly extinct. Luckily through breed clubs and devoted breeder and breeding programs the soft natured kitty was brought back.

Breed standard

The Norwegian is a strong built larger cat, with a sense of elegance. They weigh in at 3.5kg up to 7kg and are long bodied and long legs with a bushy tail. Their coats are doubled with a long glossy water resistant outer and a thick woolly undercoat to keep them warm in the climate they originate from. Their heads are triangle in shape with oblique eyes any colour but jade green preferred. They should have a strong chin and large ears full with ear fluff to protect from snow. They can have ear hairs like lynx but not all have these. They have very fluffy feet to walk on snow and can have extremely strong claws making them great at climbing. Many love to be high dwellers and often reach high places such as on top of kitchen cupboards, doors etc. They are friendly in nature but independent aswell. They want to be involved with everything but also love their own space. They are quiet in voice but can be like a herd of elephants in play.

My Guardians are looked after by me Jeanette, I am very much a baby to the hobby of showing only been doing it for a few years but love the hobby with a passion its great fun for you and your cat and my cats absolutely love their days out. They see the carrier and get excited, they love their chance to show off. Although new to the world of cat fancier I am very experience in animal care and a love for all things kitty has run deep in my veins for a long time. When I was 3 my first cat arrived in my life. He was Wellington a very handsome boy mainly white with some black patches he was a very strong character but a deep bond was set up and he was there to listen to me always. We often shared conversations under the stars. Since him I have always been with a cat, I feel so lonely without one I hate not having my guardian hence the decision for our prefix name. Cats are like guardians to me and they watch me through my chapters of life. At school I was lucky to do Agriculture and horticulture as a GCSE I then followed that with a national diploma in animal care and I have the petstore management qualification. Following my education I worked in Kennels and catteries and grooming parlours. Now a little maturer maybe wiser in my 30s I have a small family of 2 boys. My passion for cats has developed more and I love showing. We go as a family and its fun for all. I have always had a love for genetics and so the breeding side is one that is taken very seriously and full of interest but it is a hobby. First and full most my cats come first and they are my family, we will have kittens available but we will not have lots of litters a year. We breed to better the Norwegian Forest cat and to help the breed develop healthy to the breed standard.

ADJULSL Gramora Aztec

Aztec is our first homegrown Norwegian she is a tortie tabby and her stunning colours and wild nature made her a keeper. I absolutely adore her even though she has been a bit hit and miss at the shows having for sure that naughty tortie attitude you can never tell who will turn up on the day. Aztec has shown her true potential at being a great mum and absolutely adores her kittens.

Link (Lincoln)

Guardians Lord Lincoln

Little Link was meant to be going to my friend however she had to move house and was unable to have him, so he stayed with us. And we had already got a soft spot for him because he is so soft and fluffy and his nature is to die for. So I entered him in to the Supreme whilst we waited on what to do. He came 3rd and had a great day so he has stayed home ever since and is for sure crazy enough to be a family member. He loves carrying his toys around proudly and we hope to show him in 2020 and onwards. His mother is Aztec and Grandma is Inca.
